Dr. Biter has resigned
I spoke to Dr. Biter. He could not discuss the details of his resignation from Scripps Encinitas Hospital but I'm certain it's more complex than we know. Anytime a person takes on the system, it's never cut & dry nor is it ever a fair fight. I know Dr. Biter has always put his patients 1st & is putting together a plan to continue to ensure the safe care of his patients during this transitional time.

Resigned from Scripps Encinitas Hospital or resigned from medicine period? I very much hope it's not the latter!
I pray that he will still be doing the prenatal care for his patients!!
I hate all the secrecy surrounding issues like this. It is so frustrating - I just want to know the TRUTH so that I can make my own decisions about doctors and hospitals!
I hope that Dr. Biter has resigned so that he may fully pursue his birth center. That would be awesome.
I am saddened by the whole process, because it casts a dark cloud over the doctor that will take a long time to dissipate. Even if he did nothing wrong, the fact that there was a "scandal" attached to his name will change the way people view him.
Please people stay positive in your thoughts and words. There was no "scandal", what we are experiencing are the stagnant, stuffy and profit driven politics of larger organizations clashing with the compassionate and supportive practice of an individual who is following his heart and his calling - Dr. Biter! Our support for him shows how passionate we are about our NATURAL birthright, about our own choices and opinions, we care about him, because he understands us and always believes in our strength! Dr. Biter deserves to be supported by us every step of the way because he fights for our rights every day and that is a beautiful thing, not a scandal!
I believe there is no stigma or scandal associated with Dr Biter. If there is a scandal it is Scripps..SHAME ON THE COWARDS!
This will hopefully be good publicity for Dr Biter, draw in the spotlight and bring him the support he needs and very much deserves. He is a brave man to stand in the face of "The Machine" that is only driven by slime and grease. You go, Dr Biter. Stay the course, we have your back! Indrani mommy to Satyana
Shame on all of you who immediately blame the first baby friendly hospital in San Diego. The only reason he was even reinstated was so he could resign and thus eliminating the chance for an investigation. Dr. Biter has great bed side manor when he is there and he only cares for those who want to birth naturally, I went into labor 6 weeks early and saw the man for a grand total of 15 minutes during my enitre 15 hour labor where he did not ever explain to me why it was happening. He was only available to see me for two appointments through my entire pregnancy then tried to postpone me for two months when I was bleeding for seven days straight every four days 6 MONTHS post pardum. Maybe you all have money and that is why he was so caring for you, maybe you went to him before he had way too many patients for one doctor, all I know is he was not the same doctor you all seem to love with me and maybe I am not the only case.
If you research further there are multiple suits agains the "wonderful" doctor. The Hospital is simply protecting its good name.
Here is an article from a more down to earth party.

Dr. Amy Tuteur? A credible source on Dr. Biter? As if. Don't trust that woman's venom. She has her own agenda.
And since we're on the topic of being discredited...that's exactly what you did to yourself with this ridiculous statement:
"Maybe you all have money and that is why he was so caring for you,"
Dr. Biter has been known to treat patients in need at no cost.
Shame on you.
Would it be logical to assume the Scripps/Biter fued was over his upcoming birth center? It seems to me that the hospital would discontinue his birth privileges and get his patients transferred to another Scripps doctor before he leaves/left.
What is the status of the new birth center? Anyone know? I'm a surrogate recently pregnant with (possibly) twins and hoping to birth naturally at his new birth center. Months ago I read that he was shooting for a May 2010 opening. ??
"Would it be logical to assume the Scripps/Biter fued was over his upcoming birth center?"
Wouldn't it be more logical to assume that it has something to do with the multiple suits against him by former patients, many of which named Scripps as a co-defendent? This info can easily be found on the San Diego Court website, as it is a matter of public record. It is not simply individuals with an agenda, such as Dr. Amy, promoting this idea.

What are these people's hidden agendas? And you are absolutely right, shame on me for thinking I deserve to have a doctor there for more then 15 minutes of my 15 hour/6 week early labor, how dare I wish to be treated like my doctor cares about me. The fact is the hospital reinstated the man, which is what you were all fighting for because the hospital made it so you could not deliver with your doctor, well then he went and resigned and your still mad at the hospital? And for the record, his patients donate money for his "free" services for people without insurance, I myself have put money toward that fund.
Everyone, from both sides of the argument, should use their energy towards promoting Natural Birth. Taking Biter out of the equation, natural birth is something that is being completely overlooked in the U.S. All of you are riled up about the same thing, so instead of arguing about doctors and hospitals, rally behind Midwives, Birth Centers, etc. that are working their asses of everyday and getting zero attention--and who also face enormous fiscal challenges and truly need community support. All of this energy could be better used towards educating soon to be mommy's about their options.
